Dear Parents & Guardians:
Welcome to a new exciting school year at Aspen Valley Prep Academy Charter School. We are honored that you have entrusted your child’s education to us. Our mission is to transform the community by developing exceptional leaders.
Our charter renewal is behind us, and we are looking forward to an exciting 2017-18 school year! We have big plans in store for our students. First, we'll begin with the new balanced calendar, the start of school will be on July 24, 2017. This school year, we will continue to grow the Leader in Me Curriculum at both schools. Our students will continue to have access to a full-time art teacher, music, physical education and competitive sports. Our grade 4-8 students will use Summit Learning Curriculum (Visit summitlearning.org for more information). We are also welcoming many new staff members and volunteers in 2017-18. And of course, we are very excited to continue our transitional kindergarten, ASES Aftershool and library programs.
I encourage you to volunteer this year and attend our monthly Parent Lighthouse meetings, whenever possible. These meetings give parents the opportunity to participate and see firsthand what is going on at Aspen Valley Prep. Together, we’ll learn about the 7-Habits and how we can implement them at home. Special speakers from our community may sometimes join us and we’ll talk about a variety of topics—including jog-a-thon and other school-wide fundraisers. We appreciate any help you can give us with these activities.
Finally, if during the school year, you feel your child needs additional help, or if you have a concern, please don’t hesitate to contact your teacher. Additionally, if you have any other concerns, please contact your Site Director or myself at the school office. It is our goal to support our families any way we can.Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students!
On behalf of the entire staff at Valley Prep Academy and Aspen Public School, we thank you for your support. Welcome again to the New School Year!
