What is Student Leadership? Student Leadership (Lead Team) is a group of select students chosen to lead Valley Prep Student body in activities that highlight Character and promote the mission of VPA. How many students can be on the Lead Team? Student Leadership (Lead Team) is comprised of 5% of VPA student population. These students from sixth-eighth grades are nominated and confirmed by teachers of VPA. These students are chosen for their capability to be a positive influence on the student body of Valley Prep. These students have a history of consistent positive Character demonstration throughout the time they have been at VPA. How many students are chosen from each grade? We will begin the 2010 school year with 2 representatives from 6th grade, 5 representatives from 7th grade, and 3 representatives from 8th grade. New representatives may be nominated at the end of Semester 1. (All representatives will serve for one semester, but will be asked to serve in Semester 2 if they remain in good standing.) What are some of the activities of the Lead Team? • Attending periodic lunch meetings • Participating in meetings w/ Staff Character Team • Helping with Assembly Presentations • Being student mentors to younger classes as requested • Helping with monitoring of Uniform exchange and giveaway program • Helping to build the Character Program at Valley Prep Charter School What should a student do to be considered for the Lead Team? A student should daily follow The VPA Golden Rule, The Seven Steps to Discipline, and consistently demonstrate positive Character. Who are the Lead Team Sponsors? The Staff Character Team sponsors the Lead Team. This year's sponsors are Jim Davis, John Washburn, Rhonda Hearnsberger, Lisa Taylor, and Shelly Melton, Director. (Any teacher is welcome to attend the meetings.) |
